E-Waybill System Introduces New Features for Enrolled Transporters and Taxpayers: De-registration and Cancellation Options in E-Waybill System

The E-Waybill System has been enhanced with new features for Enrolled Transporters and Common Enrolled Taxpayers. These features are designed to improve the functionality and user experience of the system. Here are the details of the new features:

  1. De-registration for Transporters: Transporters who have registered in the e-Waybill Portal using Enrolment (based on PAN) and no longer wish to continue using the e-Waybill system now have the option to de-enrol themselves. By de-registering, they will lose access to the e-Waybill portal. This facility is available for any enrolled transporter who wants to de-register from the EWB system. Once de-registered, the Transporter ID cannot be used in e-Waybills, and the Part-B details cannot be updated for the de-registered Transporter ID.
  2. Cancellation of Common Enrolment: Some taxpayers have opted for common enrolment but no longer want to continue using the common enrolment ID for various reasons. To address this, a facility to cancel common enrolment has been provided. Taxpayers can utilize this feature to de-register from common enrolment. Once the common enrolment ID is cancelled, it cannot be used to update the transporter details. However, the Part-B details can still be updated for the e-Waybills that were assigned with the common enrolment ID before the cancellation. Additionally, a one-month time limit will be provided after the cancellation of common enrolment. Once this period elapses, the login will be blocked, and no further activity can be performed in the e-Waybill system. Users can then log in again using their GSTIN credentials to generate new e-waybills.
  3. Two-Factor Authentication: To enhance the security of e-Waybill login access, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) has been enabled as an optional feature. However, it is important to note that after a specified period of time (couple of weeks), 2FA will become mandatory for all users. Users who operate the e-Waybill system from multiple locations using a single credential are advised to create sub-users immediately to ensure a seamless transition to the mandatory 2FA.

These new features aim to provide more flexibility, control, and security to enrolled transporters and common enrolled taxpayers using the e-Waybill System. Transporters can now de-register themselves if they no longer wish to use the system, while taxpayers can cancel their common enrolment if needed. The introduction of 2FA ensures enhanced security for the login process, ultimately safeguarding the e-Waybill system.
